A recent fly-fishing jaunt to Rannoch moor was a great opportunity to test some new kit, I recently got my mits on a 10-stop filter for the Cokin 'P' system I regularly use. I usually slot in a ND grad for exposure correction and sometimes a combination of ND's for long exposures that allow for a sense of movement in the image, typically for 'slow water' effects. The Hitech filter ( a cheaper Lee 'Big Stopper' equivalent) was definitely a good purchase and great addition to my gear, it allows for much more prolonged exposure in a mid-day lit scene. I liked the contrast of movement It gave me, the turbulent trails in the billowy sky with the sheen and stillness of the water beneath, it did however throw up a blueish cast which became more prominent the longer the exposure, but It worked to my advantage by emphasising the cooler tonal range of the sky, grasses and water, which complimented the mood I wanted to convey. Nae fish though.
