Landscape photographer of the year awards

Had a fantastic night at the National Theatre on Londons' South Bank on Tuesday night. Travelled down with Allyson in the company of good friend and fellow snapper Iain McLean and his lovely wife Susan. (Iain had received a well deserved commendation for his powerful photograph of the Machrie moor standing stones on the bonnie isle of Arran). It was great to see all the winners images displayed in all their glory and to have a good blether with several of them, also good to have a long chin-wag with fellow Scot and winner of this years top award Robert Fulton.

Some pics I shot the next day when things were a wee bit less claustrophobic...

Isle of Arran

First time visit to Arran, I had to take over a family cot to my wee 'skin and blister' Emma as she is expecting her first bairn and stayed with her and her man Stuart, for two nights in their new house in Brodick. I was immediatley impressed by the sail into dock with the views of the mighty Goatfell and surrounding ranges that provide a backdrop to the town. I was up at the lark the next morn, around 5:30am the next morn and off up to 'Pirates Cove' one of a few locations pointed out to me by the landscape photographer and modern day master, Richard Childs, a couple of days before, so I had a rough itenerary to tick through while racing against the shortened winter daylight. I inevitabley felt cheated and frustrated by the scope of the islands riches versus my limited time to get around, and definatley must get back again to do justice to some of the gems I discovered along the way...
