Taking the plunge

While up at the falls of Bruar on Monday I had the pleasure of meeting a team of gorge jumping trainees from Caledonian first aid http://www.cafirstaid.co.uk/index.php?id=50  I had been poised on the steep bank by the impressive lower falls and got a bit of a shock with the sudden appearance of a gorge jumper plunging into the freezing pool ahead of me and proceeded to scream loudly as if in agony, a bit of a shock to the system and I was considering how I could get to the poor guy when he grinned up at me with a thumbs up and explained it was all a simulation. Phew!. The organiser Stewart had asked me if I could possibly take some shots of the exercise involving lowering an casualty down the various pools that comprise the falls.

Falls of Bruar and The Hermitage

Made the trip up Perthshire way on Monday to visit two of my favourite haunts from the region, the beautiful Hermitage in Dunkeld and the falls of Bruar in Pitagowan. Both locations are full of photographic opportunities but it has to be the rocks that hold my interest the most. The caramel tones and layered textures of the water worn stone is sublime.
